Results from the March 18, 2007 Tracking Test
This was the first Tracking Test the ASC of MT had ever held, and when it was over the general
consensus was that it had been a success. There were 4 TD teams and 3 TDX teams. Our thanks
to all who participated and helped make this event possible. In particular, we wish to express thanks
to Judy Strom and Teressa Keenan, our judges, who were most understanding and generally fun
to work with. Chief Tracklayer Sally Carlson directed the tracklayers and took up the slack when
needed. Of course, none of this is possible without the tracking teams who came out to prove
themselves.
The weather cooperated by being warm and sunny for plotting day as well as the test day, although
the wind may have been a factor in the outcomes. It was quite breezy after noon and that effected
the scent trail on the portions of the track that were in the open. The impact was most noticable on
the TDX tracks as they were run last. The final TDX track was also invaded by gophers who presented
quite a distraction during the attempt and even stole some of the articles. (Honest Carol, there were
no gophers on the previous day when we plotted the track. We suspect the warm weather got them up.)
There were no successful TDX tracks, but three of the four TD tracks were completed successfully.
TDs and plaques were awarded to:
Mistretta's Anniversary Dance (Annie) Owner/Handler Tammy Hancock
Ard Rhi O'Cu (Rhi) Owner/Handler Carol McQuade
Winjammers High Octane (Gusto) Owner Handler Kelly Goodman
Perhaps the most impressive run of the day was by Tammy Hancock and Annie. They came out from
Cottage Grove, OR to participate. It turned out to be well worth the drive.
