2008 Silver Buckle Awards

There will be four silver buckles awarded at the Cow Country Classic in July.  Three buckles will be high combined awards for dogs with the
highest cumulative scores across all 6 trials and the fourth buckle for the Most Promising Started Aussie*.

Guidelines for the awards:
  • Each dog competing must be entered in all trials and all classes (18 runs) to be eligible a high combined award.
  • The Most Promising Started Aussie does not require entry in all trials but the dog must be entered in all classes of stock in Started.
  • A dog can only compete for one buckle.
  • For a buckle to be awarded there must be at least two dogs competing for the award.

The four categories are:
  •  High Combined Aussie WTCH
  •  High Combined Aussie non-WTCH
  •  High Combined Other Breed
  •  Most Promising Started Aussie*

*Note: only started scores will be counted toward the total of the Most Promising Started Aussie award.  For that buckle we use only the two

highest started scores for each class of stock-- ducks, sheep and cattle, to compute the combined score.  This provides the opportunity for dogs

to move up to open after two qualifying runs if the handler wishes to do so.  However, if the handler of a started aussie wishes to compete for the

High Combined Aussie non-WTCH award (instead of the Most Promising Started Aussie award), that intention must be declared before the start

of the trial.

2008 Series BucklesThree silver trophy buckles will be awarded at the Grizzly Jamboree in September for the high combined class scores
accumulated over all four ASC of Montana 2008 stockdog trials—one each for sheep, cattle and ducks.  A dog must compete in at least two
weekends of trials to be eligible.  Since these awards are for high combined by class, a dog does not have to enter every class to be eligible for
the award.  That is, one could receive the High Combined Sheep series award while entering only sheep trials so long as they participated in at least
two trials of the four ASC of Montana trial weekends.  Scores from Ranch trials will not be considered in the total.
